Recently, I found a new job at PJ. It’s a call center and my position is sales agent or professional conversationalist. I had attended the interview at 14th August 08. At that time, I was so nervous, my heartbeat faster than usual and my mind was blank. I got no idea what is that company about and which position I had applied. There was a guy called me up and invited me to this interview. I knew that he found my resume at JobStreet.com later on. He claimed that I had sent him a resume. What I remember is I didn’t. From Ampang to PJ, it is a very long distance. *omg* Believe me, you would never want to travel that far by bus daily.
Supposed that there are ten candidates, but one left. So, in total there are 4 girls and 5 male at the training room. How they started the interview? They started the interview session by showing us a part of the movie. What they trying to tell is that getting a job is like getting married (or engaged). Then, they asked us to get to know people beside us. After that, we had to introduce people in our left hand side. At the same time, the CEO and the project manager entered the room for Q&A session. One of us started to introduce the other and then interviewer had some questions for them as well. There are some question like “What do you think about your previous company?”, “Why do you think this company is suitable for you?”, “What is your job scope in previous company?” and so on. Their question is more to candidate’s previous company, their performance(s),reasons you quit the job and reasons you join that company.
Since I had no experience in this working field, their question for me is about how I think this job is suitable for me and how do I recognize the key of success. They emphasize on right employee right job. I don’t really know how to structure my answer, but I tried to apply what I had learned in psychology class. I know that I’m not suppose to give too much of negative statements. I should be honest with the interviewers. The most important is I shall be calm and polite.(at least I pretend to be calm) I don’t think I had given the best answer, but I had done my best. Ok, we were done with the interview session after about 1-2 hours.
But
hey! That was just 1st round of the interview session. They will
shortlist the candidate. Candidates will leave immediately if they’re not
qualified. Frankly, I wished that I wouldn’t get this job. First, it’s too far
from my house. I was thinking to get rid of this problem after my foundation
program finished and I’m wrong. (I need to travel quite far to my college as
well) Second, I have no confident to handle this job. I’m afraid of my
weaknesses. This job is all about communication. Since last time, I’m kind of
quiet person. I don’t really talk much. My conversation per day is lessening day
by day. The problem of mine had converted to the symptom. (This happened long
time ago, I don’t think you need a further explanation from me) Third, all the
time, English language is weak point. Hmmm… not to say too badly, I can speak.
I try hard to improve my English too. The matter here is my confidence level.
Employees have to operate phone calls and administrative works in English,
mainly. This is because most of the clients are from
Ok, I’m hired. My feeling was complicated. Should I feel happy or disappointed?
